Srinagar, June 1: The largest cellular provider in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), is all set to launch the 3G services in the State by the end of this month.
For launching the 3G facility, BSNL has upgraded its infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment and successfully conducted testing for feasibility of the special service. “Our testing for 3G has been successful and we are making all efforts to launch the service by the end of this month in cities and major towns of the State, Chief General Manager (CGM) J&K Circle, R K Koul, told Greater Kashmir.... State run telecom PSU BSNL has revised its data charges for its 2G and 3G customers. It has increased its data download charges for prepaid and postpaid customers in 2G as well 3G plans. It will now be charging 2p/10KB from the earlier 1p/10KB in home as well as in roaming which means now Rs. 2/MB will be charged for data downloads. It has also revised its data usage limits in one GPRS postpaid plan and one 3G postpaid plan and added a new 3G postpaid plan 2G Postpaid plan of Rs. 249 which was unlimited earlier will now have free data usage of 6GB usage only. Similarly postpaid 3G plan of Rs. 1359 which was unlimited earlier will now have free data usage of 15 GB only. 3G postpaid plans of Rs. 2720 has been added which will offer 35GB free data usage for a month. Srinagar, Jan 23: The subscribers of BSNL EVDO have urged the general manager Kashmir province to intervene since the service at Rainawari has been erratic for months.
The subscribers complained that despite promises by largest telecom service provider, it has failed to deliver those when it came to connectivity.
“I purchased the Haier instrument from BSNL last year at Rs 4000 cost and the service provider promised me uninterrupted service and better than other private players. Yet I haven’t seen the day when it gets disconnected and I have to pay Rs 650 per month for nothing,” said a woman subscriber from Rainawari.
According to her and others who in form of delegation visited Greater Kashmir office said that speed is slow and erratic.
Adding to the woes of BSNL subscribers, they are unaware about any complaint cell when it comes to EVDO services.... Read more of this...
